Freedom and choice
What does it mean to be able to choose?
Do you view this as freedom?
For a long time, I didn’t. And yet more and more I understand: Freedom is choice.
It is possible to choose freedom in each moment.
Of course, it’s not so easy. Especially not so when you haven’t practiced this.
But I am here to tell you: there is tremendous power in how we choose to respond to life.
Cultivating this skill will let you choose freedom over attachment. Attachment to your negative beliefs, your self-inflicted pain, the stories that keep you stuck.
It begins with seeing your choices clearly: Understand, really and fully, that state of mind is something that can be controlled, and you are the one in control.
You can still feel your feelings, but what do you do with them?
How do you transform them into something that has a positive impact, that gives you a bit more of that freedom than you had before?
What can you let go of in each moment, and what exactly are you holding on to?
These are the questions to ask yourself when you feel you have no choice, no freedom.
Begin there, be honest, and see where it takes you.
